Weekly Chamber Update on WNEG AM 630

Hello, this is Wendi Bailey, your Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce President with your Weekly Chamber Update.

Toccoa-Stephens County has lots of opportunity to attract tourists to our 12th annual Currahee Military Weekend set for October 5th-7th, recently named the Best Downtown Event in Georgia. We need your help to invite your friends and family - proudly wear your red, white and blue, and help us show off our Currahee Military Museum and Camp Toccoa at Currahee.

As of right now, participating WWII veterans, who trained at Camp Toccoa, in the parachute infantry regiments include: Carl Beck, Ira Morehart, Ed Shames, Al Mampre, Robert Parks, Robert Wright, James "Pee Wee" Martin, and Mario Patruno.  They will be in the parade that begins after a parachute jump by the Special Forces Parachute Jump Team.

Our Georgia National Guard Adjutant General Jim Butterworth is the special guest speaker at the Opening Ceremonies.  Robin Sink McClelland, daughter of Col. Robert F. Sink will be attending the weekend festivities and the speaker for the Banquet is Toccoa resident Major General James Guest who served as aide to General Richard Seitz who trained at Camp Toccoa.

The USO Hangar Dance will have the Dave Frye Quartet playing live 40’s music. And, on Saturday the parade will have the High School Indian Band

Listen every morning to am 630 WNEG for your chance to win tickets to the BBQ, Hangar Dance and even a Huey Helicopter ride. For a complete list of our events and sponsors, please visit www.toccoagachamber.com
