Hello, this is Wendi Bailey, your Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce President with your Weekly Chamber Update.

We are excited about the 12th Annual Currahee Military Weekend set for October 5th-7th, recently named the Best Downtown Event in Georgia.  Invite your friends and family and help us show off our Currahee Military Museum and Camp Toccoa at Currahee.

  • On Friday, the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors will cook, serve and deliver 1,000 chicken plates to our community and out of town guests at the Toccoa First Baptist Church of Toccoa.
  • Friday afternoon there is a book signing at the train depot.
  • Friday night, the USO Hangar Dance will have a live band, live singing group and live swing dance demonstrations.
  • Saturday morning over 400 runners and walkers will compete in the Currahee Challenge.
  • Saturday at 11am, nine returning WWII Camp Toccoa veterans will be in the parade that begins with a parachute jump with the huge American flag and smoke.
  • Georgia National Guard Adjutant General Jim Butterworth will speak at the Opening Ceremonies. During the ceremony 150 new military recruits will be inducted into the US Army.
  • Outside the historic courthouse the re-enactors will set up camps and conduct weapons demonstrations on the hour. Inside the courthouse will be the memorabilia show.
  • Robin Sink McClelland, daughter of Col. Robert F. Sink will attend the festivities. She is the president of the Board of the Trustees of Camp Toccoa at Currahee.
  • Saturday night is the Banquet & Auction and the speaker is Toccoa resident Major General James Guest who served as aide to General Richard Seitz who trained at Camp Toccoa.

Listen every morning to am 630 WNEG for your chance to win tickets to the Hangar Dance.
