Have you registered for the Georgia Chamber of Commerce Power Lunch? With Chamber President and CEO, Chris Clark on Thursday July 25th at the Currahee Club from 11:30am to 1pm? You are invited to attend and interact with Georgia Chamber members and business people from the region. 

There is no cost to attend the lunch. However, you must RSVP  by sending an email to powerlunch@gachamber.com. Please put TOCCOA in the subject field and RSVP today!  Join us to learn more about key business issues and what we can all do to achieve our common business goals.


I have a few announcements for you:

We are gearing up for the Currahee Military Weekend and are in search of new Welcome Center volunteers. We offer flexible hours, and a fun atmosphere, where you can meet interesting people and promote Toccoa-Stephens County hospitality. It’s a great resume builder, too! TODAY at 10am we have a Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting celebration for Pablo and Lori Tocohua (pronounced Toccoa) and their restaurant called Old Mexico located on MLK in downtown Toccoa next to the Farmers Market building. Hope to see you there!

On Saturday night don’t miss Clay Leverette and the Chasers, and Eye Candy playing live at the Ida Cox music festival on Doyle Street from 7pm to 10pm. Good music every Saturday night – now through the end of July!  On Sunday at 5pm Ms. Shirley Colmbs will celebrate the opening of her new Shirley’s Shelter on South Alexander Street - and the public is welcome.  Also, on Sunday at 7pm - don’t miss the Toccoa Symphony Orchestra’s Patriotic Pops outdoor concert on the Currahee Club lawn.  

Finally, save the date for the “Wake Hartwell Wakeboarding Competition” on Lake Hartwell July20-21h at the Tugaloo State Park. Admission is free.

The Georgia Chamber of Commerce hosts a series of Power Lunches with local chambers in the Regions across the state. These events feature Georgia Chamber Board Chair, Steve Green and Chamber President, Chris Clark.

New this year, the Power Lunch for our Region will be held in Toccoa on Thursday July 25th at the Currahee Club from 11:30am to 1pm.

You are invited to attend, and interact with Georgia Chamber members and business people from the region to learn more about key business issues and what we can all do to achieve our common business goals.

In July the Georgia Chamber will be here in Toccoa and in August Toccoa-Stephens County will be featured in the Georgia Trend Business Magazine with 50,000 copies delivered to leaders across the state. This weekend don’t miss Randy and MacKenzie Chester playing live at the Ida Cox music festival on Doyle Street from 7pm to 10pm. Good music every Saturday night – now through the end of July!  

Next Tuesday, June 25th we have a an “After Hours Meet & Greet” with Representative Dan Gasaway, at 5:30pm at the Cornerstone/ X-Factor Grill in Historic Downtown Toccoa.  And next Wednesday, June 26th is our monthly Member Luncheon at BJ's Restaurant at 12pm.

TODAY at 10am we have a Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting celebration for Feral Outfitters at their location on Doyle Street in downtown Toccoa. Feral Outfitters is owned by Karly Herring and her store specializes in women’s clothing offering a wide variety of edgy style.

This Friday we have a Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting for Janelle Heart owner of Tinker Bell’s Flea Market located at 518 Currahee Street and next Tuesday we have a Ribbon Cutting Celebration for Dr. Benny Erwin and his new location on Stephens Circle.  

The NEGA Employer’s Seminar is TODAY at the Pointe Church on SR 17. There is a complimentary afternoon session from 1pm to 2pm on the affordable care act. Pease call the Chamber for a complete schedule at 706-886-2132.

The Georgia Mountain Farm Tour on this weekend including a tour of our very own Taylor Creek Farms. Tickets are on sale now in the Welcome Center.  Also this weekend the Ida Cox music fest continues on Doyle Street with the Blue Billy Grit Band. We hope to see you there!
