Hello this is Wendi Bailey your Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce President with your Weekly Chamber Update.

Have you registered for the Georgia Chamber of Commerce Power Lunch? With Chamber President and CEO, Chris Clark on Thursday July 25th at the Currahee Club from 11:30am to 1pm? You are invited to attend and interact with Georgia Chamber members and business people from the region. 

There is no cost to attend the lunch. However, you must RSVP  by sending an email to powerlunch@gachamber.com. Please put TOCCOA in the subject field and RSVP today!  Join us to learn more about key business issues and what we can all do to achieve our common business goals.


I have a few announcements for you:

We are gearing up for the Currahee Military Weekend and are in search of new Welcome Center volunteers. We offer flexible hours, and a fun atmosphere, where you can meet interesting people and promote Toccoa-Stephens County hospitality. It’s a great resume builder, too! TODAY at 10am we have a Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting celebration for Pablo and Lori Tocohua (pronounced Toccoa) and their restaurant called Old Mexico located on MLK in downtown Toccoa next to the Farmers Market building. Hope to see you there!

On Saturday night don’t miss Clay Leverette and the Chasers, and Eye Candy playing live at the Ida Cox music festival on Doyle Street from 7pm to 10pm. Good music every Saturday night – now through the end of July!  On Sunday at 5pm Ms. Shirley Colmbs will celebrate the opening of her new Shirley’s Shelter on South Alexander Street - and the public is welcome.  Also, on Sunday at 7pm - don’t miss the Toccoa Symphony Orchestra’s Patriotic Pops outdoor concert on the Currahee Club lawn.  

Finally, save the date for the “Wake Hartwell Wakeboarding Competition” on Lake Hartwell July20-21h at the Tugaloo State Park. Admission is free.
